On 11 January 2018, the Political Institutions Committee of the National Council voted in favour of the Federal Council's proposal to start the parliamentary debate on the total revision of the DPA and other related regulations. At the same time, it however supported an internal proposal for splitting the revision into two stages. Thus, the process of the total revision of the DPA will be prolonged.

Subsequently, the total revision of the DPA shall be addressed. According to the majority of the Committee, this will allow addressing the total revision of the DPA without time pressure and dealing with the great complexity of the topic. Due to the Committee’s decision, the process of the total revision of the DPA will most certainly be prolonged.
